Mushens Entertainment August Rights Update

We are delighted to celebrate the following UK and international sales that have happened throughout the month of August! We are also looking forward to the upcoming September releases. Have a read below to see what we have been up to:

Rights 

  • Following the announcement that Andrea Stewart’s THE BONE SHARD DAUGHTER has been shortlisted for the British Fantasy Awards, Czech rights have sold to Host.

  • Susan Stokes-Chapman’s debut historical novel, PANDORA, has sold in Croatia to Stilus. Set in the antiquities scene of Georgian London, this is a retelling of the myth of Pandora’s box.

  • Jonathan Lee at Bloomsbury has pre-empted North American rights to THE HOUSE OF FORTUNE by Jessie Burton in a six-figure deal, for publication in September 2022. This is the sequel to the million-copy bestselling debut novel, THE MINIATURIST.

  • THE MAN WHO DIED TWICE has sold in Serbia to Vulkan, Romania to Crime Scene Press, Iceland to Drapa, and Greece to Psichogios.

  • Czech rights to THE FORGOTTEN by Mary Chamberlain have been taken up by Argo.

News

  • Elodie Harper’s THE WOLF DEN has been named the Waterstones’ Fiction Book of the Month this September! Set in the seedy yet complex milieu of Pompeii’s brothels, Harper’s masterful first historical novel follows Amara and her fellow ‘she-wolves’ through a city where opportunity is rife for even the lowest born slave. Readers will find this incredible book featured in displays across the country. The paperback edition will be out on 2nd September.

September publications:

  • 2nd September: Betty and John want to forget about what happened during the War, but secrets begin to unravel as they work towards nuclear disarmament in THE FORGOTTEN by Mary Chamberlain, which is out in hardback from Oneworld.

  • 2nd September: Set in Ancient Pompeii's lupanar, THE WOLF DEN by Elodie Harper is the first in a trilogy of novels reimagining the lives of women who have long been overlooked. It is out from Head of Zeus in paperback. 

  • 7th September: AN ORDINARY WONDER by Buki Papillon is a story of the courage needed to be yourself and the wonderous things that can bring. It’s out in hardback from Pegasus books in the US.

  • 7th September: Nell Pattison’s THE SILENT SUSPECT sees Paige Northwood return to solve the mystery of whether or not a husband killed his wife and burnt their home to the ground. Out in paperback from Avon in the US.

  • 16th / 28th September: The Thursday Murder Club gets into further shenanigans the very next Thursday in the sequel to Richard Osman’s two-million-copy selling debut. THE MAN WHO DIED TWICE is out from Viking in the UK on the 16th and in the US from Pamela Dorman books in the US on the 28th in hardback.

  • 28th September: When Noelle and Sam’s lives collide one evening, they think they will never see each other again. But soon their lives become entangled in ways they never expected. EIGHT PERFECT HOURS is the latest novel from Lia Louis that will make you fall in love with her writing all over again. Out from Emily Bestler Books in the US.

  • 30th September: Abigail Dean’s Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling debut novel follows Lex Gracie as she is forced to revisit her dark family history, which left her known to the world as GIRL A. It is out in paperback from HarperCollins.

  • 30th September: Meet THE COUPLE AT NO 9 who move into their grandmother’s house only to find bodies in the back yard. Claire Douglas’s latest thriller is out in hardback from Michael Joseph.
