Fun trips

Mushens Entertainment were delighted to launch the Mushens Entertainment Award this year, partnering with the University of East Anglia, and the team spent an excellent day on the UEA campus. The Award will offer £3,000 to a student on the Creative Writing MA in Crime Fiction and the winner will be selected at the halfway point of the two-year course based on the first 10,000 words of their crime novel-in-progress.

Our agents were also involved in judging multiple prizes in 2024, including the Goldfinch Novel Award, the First Novel Prize, the I Am Writing Historical Competition, and the Cheshire Novel Prize. They had a fantastic time reading the submissions and meeting with the prize winners!

Our 2024 Summer party was another particularly memorable event. We raised a glass to the huge achievements of our authors in the rooftop bar at The Conduit Club in Covent Garden. Much fun was had while mingling and in the photobooth, as we looked onto the gorgeous central London skyline.

We returned to the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate for another jam-packed weekend of ME author activities. Richard Osman was headlining the festival and Abigail Dean, Anna Mazzola and Richard participated in panel discussions about all things connected to crime writing. Meanwhile, many of our authors had pop-up events around the fair, including Kate Gray and Carys Green, which we had great fun visiting. Richard even had a surprise pop-up signing, which caused an absolute stampede as fans raced to be one of the lucky people to get an advance signed copy of We Solve Murders. The weekend culminated with an ME author drinks, where we had a wonderful time basking in the unexpected heatwave as we chatted with the many lovely ME clients who had travelled to the Festival

As always, the team descended on FantasyCon in October, which was held this year in Cheshire. We were thrilled to see Jen Williams win the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel 2024 for her novel, Talonsister, and that Stephen Aryan was one of three handpicked Guests of Honour.

Below are the wonderful books that we’ve published in 2024. Thank you so much to all of our authors, publishers and partners who have made this possible!

Wishing you a wonderful festive season and a Happy New Year, with love from the ME team! X
