Mimi Deb
Born in Calcutta, Mimi Deb has lived in Singapore, Mumbai, and now London, each for several years at a time. The one constant, in every place, was her love for books, both reading and writing. Mimi worked as a journalist for leading national dailies and magazines, before producing TV dramas and, later, feature films.
In 2021, Mimi won the Avon-Mushens Commercial Fiction Prize for Love on the Menu. To be published by Avon in Summer 2023, the novel is set in London and tells the story of Gia, an immigrant, navigating the politics of work, love and friendship, and the unlikely bond she develops with Ben, the manager of a restaurant, who sends her notes taped to takeaway boxes.
When not writing, Mimi is probably running along the Thames thinking of her next story, or next meal. She also loves playing Beethoven’s Appassionata on her piano, video games, and Love Island.
