Authors and Agent join Black Girl Writers as Mentors

Abigail Jackson founded Black Girl Writers as a writing club to help “provide a space for Black women of all identities to receive mentoring from industry professionals.” She writes, “I believe that critique will be richer and more valuable if it comes from someone who can empathise with minority experiences. There is a colour problem in the UK publishing industry. Let’s change that.”

We are very happy to be involved with her brilliant initiative. Authors Saara El-Arifi, Jessie Burton, Buki Papillon, and agent Juliet Mushens are now mentors for Black Girl Writers.

Saara, Jessie and Buki will be mentoring writers and Juliet will be offering larger group sessions on how to ready your manuscripts, pitch, and submit it to agents.

If you are interested in learning more about or joining Black Girl Writers (as a mentee or a mentor!), please visit the website here.
