Books in the Media

The past week saw lots of our amazing authors in the media...

THE DAUGHTERS OF MADURAI by Rajasree Variyar has been spotlighted as a best release on Buzzfeed! They describe it as a “heartwrenching novel set in alternating timelines deals with the horrific practice of female infanticide.”

Jane Hennigan’s MOTHS is included in the Top SFF Books March 2023 in SciFiNow. They write, “Recommended for fans of Naomi Alderman’s, The Power, this new heart-breaking and confrontational new novel from Jane hennigan is thoughtful self-assessment of humanity’s perception of gender norms, it’s relationship with violence, redemption and it’s desire for reciprocity.”

Elvin Mensah’s SMALL JOYS has received a great review from BookPage: “Sympathetic . . . The center of all this is Harley, of whom Mensah writes with great affection. He offers unforgettable details . . . The raw emotion in Mensah’s book . . . will resonate with anyone who has ever felt as if they don’t belong. Harley may be an outsider, but as Mensah notes, he’s got a lot of company.”

The Sunday Times published a fantastic review of ELEVEN LIARS which they said “easily lives up to the promise of the first” book in Robert Gold’s Ben Harper series.

In The Times’ review of Krystle Zara Appiah’s ROOTLESS, they write that “Appiah paints a hard-hitting picture of how desperate it is to feel that what society insists is the best thing that can happen to you is, in fact, the absolute worst.”

ROOTLESS was also included in Cosmopolitan’s round-up of the best books this March.
