Books in the Media

We’ve received some great press for our authors this week!

BuzzFeed reviewed Elvin James Mensah’s SMALL JOYS in their newsletter. Laura Sackton writes, ““Mensah writes hilarious, true-to-life dialogue and has a particular talent for capturing the small and often overlooked moments that so often define friendships. He tackles loneliness, mental health, anti-gay discrimination, and suicidal ideation with care. There’s therapy, and characters with big growth arcs, and birding expeditions, and plenty of karaoke. It’s as fun as it is thoughtful: a tender and generous novel about finding your people, getting vulnerable, and celebrating every joy — big or small.”

The Nerd Daily published a piece on exciting new mythology inspired book releases and included Jennifer Saint’s ATALANTA: “Jennifer Saint has hit her stride with retellings of ancient Greek women, with her third book covering one of Greek mythology’s only female heroes. A huntress, raised by bears, Atalanta becomes the only female warrior in the Argonauts. Saint tells the story of the warrior princess and how she claims her place as a hero, in a world dominated by men.”

United By Pop have recommended 21 debut novels from the first quarter of 2023 and GODKILLER by Hannah Kaner made the list! They note in Godkiller there “is great disability representation — protagonist Kissen has a prosthetic, and another characterm Telle, is deaf and hence she uses sign language to communicate…And just like the LGBTQ+ relationships here, Hannah Kaner never made a big deal out of the disability. It is simply a part of the characters.”
