Books in the Media

The past week saw lots of our amazing authors in the media...

The Sunday Times have released their bestselling books of 2022 and three of our authors have made the list!

Richard Osman features three times with his THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB series: THE MAN WHO DIED TWICE places 2nd, THE BULLET THAT MISSED is 3rd and THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB is 4th! THE BULLET THAT MISSED is the number 1 bestselling hardback title of the year.

In spite of publishing in 2021, GIRL A’s sales have remained strong, which puts Abigail Dean at #70 on the bestseller list! And even though it only published in September of this year, THE GIRLS WHO DISAPPEARED by Claire Douglas ranks at #73. What a phenomenal result - huge congratulations to Richard, Abigail and Claire!

In a Bookseller article on the impact of Booktok in 2022 and trends we can expect to see in the new year, Hannah Kaner’s fantasy début GODKILLER (HarperVoyager) is already breaking ground on BookTok: “Since the cover reveal,” Samantha (@samfallingbooks) commented, “this book is now definitely on the radar”. Samantha also mentioned Saara’s El-Arifi’s THE BATTLE DRUM as a title they’re predicting to be a Booktok hit next year.

Claire Alexander was interviewed by Psychology Today about MEREDITH, ALONE, the effects of self-imposed isolation and how Meredith’s journey in the novel takes her from lonely isolation to a healthy balance of solitude and community.

Reflecting on her own experiences, Claire explains: “There’s a vital difference between loneliness and solitude: I’ve cherished being alone for as long as I can remember, and the loneliest times in my life have been when I’ve been in a relationship, or surrounded by lots of people with little opportunity for solitude. But there’s a fine line between taking time out from other people in order to recharge, to remember what’s important to us, to simply be still and quiet, and withdrawing from the world to such an extent that ‘alone time’ becomes true, heartbreaking loneliness.”
