Books in the Media

Our brilliant authors have received lots of great press this past week!

  • Apple Books have made FAEBOUND by Saara El-Arifi their Fantasy Book of the Month!

  • SPITTING GOLD by Carmella Lowkis has been reviewed by Publishers Weekly who call it a “magnificent debut”. They write: “Lowkis skillfully orchestrates the contentious relationship between Sylvie and Charlotte, each of whom resort to subterfuges and schemes, and pulls off a series of surprising twists that completely change the shape of the story. It’s an auspicious first outing from a writer to watch.”

  • Booktime Magazine has published an extract of Hester Musson’s THE BEHOLDERS and an interview with Elle Machray about their debut novel, REMEMBER, REMEMBER in their latest issue!

  • Publishers Weekly reviewed Taran Matharu’s DRAGON RIDER: “Matharu masterfully lays the groundwork for what promises to be an epic series, taking his time to develop the tension and establish the worldbuilding. Fantasy readers will look forward to Jai’s next move.”

  • Booklist published a review of DRAGON RIDER which will appear in their March issue: “There is so much going on in this novel, but the politics of the court is what drives the novel forward. Jai, a novice and relative nobody, is pulled into a complicated chess game, in which he is not a high-valued player, but nevertheless intends to do the right thing and survive with his brothers. It is fascinating to watch unfold.”

  • Taran contributed to Reactor Magazine’s piece on the Year of the Dragon and favourite mystic beasts.

  • Source Weekly included DRAGON RIDER as a book recommendation in their Year of the Dragon piece.

  • Hannah Kaner’s SUNBRINGER was in the Financial Times’ round-up of best new SFF novels: “Kaner’s Godkiller, which came out last year, was an impressively bloody — and bloody impressive — debut that deservedly became a bestseller […] Sunbringer picks up straight where that book left off […] It’s a very worthy follow-up.”
