Books in the Media

Our authors have received some fabulous press this week!

Hannah Kaner’s GODKILLER has seen some great press in the US media since its publication last week.

Tor.com include Godkiller in their September fantasy round-up of new releases. Tor.com have also published a review: “Godkiller takes the fabric of epic fantasy and stitches it into a clean, tense, precisely measured and neatly designed tapestry. … This is a very strong debut, offering compelling characters whose problems mount from the ordinary to the epic in the space of the novel.”

Bookpage said: “there are few things more enjoyable than watching a bruised yet honorable man and a vengeance-seeking assassin escort a young girl and her manipulative, telepathic divinity of a familiar to the forbidden city of the gods. Especially when the world they’re traipsing through is so rich and laden with narrative potential.”

Hannah did a wonderful interview with NerdDaily about her writing and inspiration for Godkiller. When asked what moments or characters she particularly enjoys writing, Hannah says: “I love the gentle moments, like havens in a storm. Where folks gather around a campfire and break bread, or swim under the stars, and all the threat of the world falls for a moment away. I think this is where you see the real heart of people, and are so important to the warmth of the text.”

Godkiller was also included in the following round-up posts:

  • Paste Magazine included it in their must-read fantasy books this fall

  • Observer featured it in their ‘Most-Anticipated Must-Read Books of Fall 2023’ post

  • BookReporter included it in their round-up of new releases

  • LitHub named it one of September’s best Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books

  • Gizmodo list it as one of their September picks for the SFF genre

  • Fansided include it as one of 17 sci-fi and fantasy books they recommend this September

  • GeekGirlAuthority include Godkiller in their round-up and have also given it a review, writing that “Godkiller is an epic fantasy tightly woven into a small package. Hannah Kaner’s debut is a story of found family and gods, monsters and kings that’s perfect for fantasy fans.”

Elodie Harper has also received some amazing early press ahead of the US publication of The Temple of Fortuna this November.

Paste Magazine have said it’s one of their must-read historical fiction books this season. They write: “The final installment in Elodie Harper’s Wolf Den trilogy, The Temple of Fortuna is, without doubt, one of my most anticipated novels of the entirety of 2023.  As Amara heads toward a new life in Rome, the deadly explosion of Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii looms in the future, unbeknownst to everyone. How will her story—and those of her friends—end? I have no idea, but I cannot wait to find out.”

The Nerd Daily have also included The Temple of Fortuna in their round-up of anticipated July To December 2023 book releases.
