The past week saw lots of our amazing authors in the media...

In Kiera Egan’s piece for Cosmopolitan on ‘The best books to look forward to in 2023’, she mentions four of our authors with books publishing next year: Laura Purcell’s THE WHISPERING MUSE, ROOTLESS by Krystle Zara Appiah, ATALANTA by Jennifer Saint and Rajasree Variyar’s THE DAUGHTERS OF MADURAI.

Electric Literature included SMALL JOYS by Elvin Mensah in their round-up of the most anticipated LGBTQ+ Books of Spring 2023. They write, “Queer stories, like the ones listed below, do more than shine light on the shadows. They are the light in the shadows. They are living documents of our lives.”

In Ella Dove’s round-up for Red Magazine, Jennifer Saint’s ATALANTA ranked as one of her favourite historical fiction books publishing next year.

Red Online also published a piece on Amazon’s top books of last year featuring Richard Osman’s THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB series: “The list includes bestsellers like Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club 3, which not only took the top spot this year, but the author's second book in the series also appeared again at number seven. While the first in the trio of books also featured in last year's Amazon's top ten list too.”

ROOTLESS by Krystle Zara Appiah has made Gal-Dem’s list of ‘11 Unmissable Books by Authors of Colour Coming in 2023’. Ayesha Safia Chaudhry describes ROOTLESS as “an open and honest exploration of the rediscovery of love, motherhood, and the choices we make and sacrifice. This beautifully written and vulnerable novel is out in March 2023.”

Krystle’s book was featured in HuffPost UK’s ‘23 Brilliant New Books for 2023 to Get Your Reading List Started’ and is described as “a highly relatable novel” where “your heart will miss many a beat”.

Finally, ROOTLESS made it into Harpers Bazaar’s top 10 new releases in 2023 which Marie-Claire Chappet describes as “a gorgeous romantic saga” and “a poignant tale”.

Waterstones presented us with their top 10 titles for 2023 in fiction, non-fiction and children’s. Hannah Kaner’s GODKILLER and Richard Osman’s fourth book in THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB series made their fiction list!

Waterstones have also created a wider list of fiction books they recommend for 2023 which includes six of our authors! Books mentioned include GODKILLER by Hannah Kaner, THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB BOOK 4 by Richard Osman, THE TEMPLE OF FORTUNA by Elodie Harper, THE WHISPERING MUSE by Laura Purcell, THE BONE SHARD WAR by Andrea Stewart and Jennifer Saint’s ATALANTA.

Book Riot has named Saara El-Arifi as one of their top 8 unputdownable authors like Brandon Sanderson. R. Nassor writes: “Although Saara El-Arifi is a 2022 debut author, I can already tell she is someone the fantasy world should fall in love with. The Final Strife is the first book in an epic fantasy trilogy inspired by her Ghanaian and Arabian heritage. Historia Magazine have published their round-up for 2023 of books published by members of the Historical Writers’ Association (HWA) which included Anna Mazzola’s THE HOUSE OF WHISPERS, Susan Stokes-Chapman’s PANDORA and Sophie Haydock’s THE FLAME.

In a Guardian article about the trend of ‘Witch Lit’, Stacey Thomas’ upcoming novel, THE REVELS, is mentioned in reference to the book’s inspiration of English witch-hunts and the real life witch-finders who hunted them.

PANDORA by Susan Stokes-Chapman is book of the week in The Sunday Times and was listed in their best paperbacks of 2023! It also appeared in The Times as a featured paperback release.
