Women authors dominate the Sci-Fi and Fantasy bestseller lists

The Bookseller reports that 18 out of 20 titles in the Top 20 are written by women - including Hannah Kaner’s GODKILLER!

In 2019 only 25 titles written by women were in the category’s Top 100 and only three female authors charted in the Top 20. This is believed to be as a result of TikTok and the romantasy trend, in addition to the rise in popularity of subscription boxes.

While established authors have continued to see growth in the genre, SFF debuts have also had lots of chart success, including GODKILLER which was the first SFF title to claim the Original Fiction weekly top spot in 2023 and was hardback number one earlier this year.
