Head of Zeus snaps up two novels from THE WOLF DEN author Harper in six-figure deal

Head of Zeus has snapped up Boudicca’s Daughter and a second novel exploring the life of Fulvia, Marc Antony’s wife, from The Wolf Den trilogy author Elodie Harper in a two-book, six-figure pre-empt.

Madeleine O’Shea, editorial director of Apollo Fiction at Head of Zeus, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the two new standalone books from Juliet Mushens at Mushens Entertainment following an exclusive submission.

Boudicca’s Daughter, which will cover Iceni queen Boudicca’s meteoric rise and devastating fall as well as its aftermath through the eyes of her youngest daughter, will be published in hardback and e-book on 8th May 2025.

The second novel, exploring the life and times of Fulvia – aristocratic power player in Ancient Rome and Marc Antony’s wife — will follow in September 2026.

Harper said: "The character of Britannica in The Wolf Den trilogy sparked my interest in the women of Roman Britain and I can’t wait to explore this world further. The Romans’ treatment of Boudicca’s two daughters ignited one of history’s most famous rebellions, and yet we know almost nothing more about their lives than this. It is very exciting to have the opportunity to reimagine their stories.

“I’m equally excited to be exploring the extraordinary life of Fulvia, who deserves to be considered alongside Marc Antony and Octavian as one of the ’great’ power players of the late Roman Republic. Maddy and the team at Head of Zeus have all been incredibly supportive of my writing, and I’m thrilled that we will continue to work together."

O’Shea said: “I am thrilled to provide an ongoing home for Elodie Harper’s brilliant books. Her ability to conjure up the forgotten women from history is completely unique – I am in awe of her writing and so excited to continue building on the brilliant success of her Wolf Den trilogy.”

Harper is currently a reporter at ITV News Anglia, and before that worked as a producer for Channel 4 News.

Mushens added: “The Wolf Den established Elodie as a skilled writer of historical fiction, extraordinarily gifted at bringing the past to life. The Head of Zeus team has worked tirelessly to bring her books to such a wide audience, with nearly 100,000 copies sold so far, so I know she’s in perfect hands for her ambitious new projects.”
