Little A, the literary fiction and nonfiction imprint of Amazon Publishing, have acquired world English rights to LOVE, WINE, AND OTHER HIGHS, a memoir from celebrated journalist and writer Lauren Rae, to be published in 2022. Victoria Haslam acquired the audio rights from Silé Edwards at Mushens Entertainment at auction for Audible before moving across to Little A where she pre-empted the print rights in her first acquisition as Editor. LOVE, WINE, AND OTHER HIGHS follows Lauren through the misadventures and scrapes of her twenties: a turbulent love life, failed journalism career, and floundering finances, shining a light on the reassuringly universal yet highly specific truths of being a Black British millennial, complete with copious generational insights and plenty of comic relief.

Lauren Rae grew up in the UK and now lives in Germany. Her journalism has been featured in Stylist, Bustle, Refinery29, and Elle. Rae is best known for her iconoclastic self-published memoir, I’m Not a Writer, which sold out in just a few weeks exclusively on Lauren’s website and socials. In response to its runaway popularity, Rae created a newsletter, combining a love of memes and obsessive TV references with the tribulations of day-to-day life; keeping her readers sated with comic relief, nostalgic reference points, and sage life advice. LOVE, WINE, AND OTHER HIGHS will expand the scope of Rae’s original work and offer even more of the righteous honesty and spontaneous delight her fans have come to adore.

Lauren Rae said: “With my new memoir, I was determined to create a piece of work that evoked Black joy, captured the nostalgia of being a teen in the noughties, as well my struggles of being a creative in a creative industry that doesn’t champion you. I’m so pleased this story has found its home with Little A and Amazon Publishing.”

Victoria Haslam, Editor at Little A, said: “Lauren effortlessly distills the experiences of the twenty-something millennial generation—reading her is so cathartic, comforting, and hopeful. We are thrilled to introduce this very special book to readers.”

Silé Edwards, Agent at Mushens Entertainment, said: “From the moment Lauren followed me back on Twitter, I have been in love with her writing, and I couldn’t think of safer hands for this book than Victoria’s. Resolutely honest, insightful and often hilarious, Lauren has written a love letter to twenty-somethings and I cannot wait to see it brought to a wider audience.”

Mouncif Faqir, Amazon Books Europe, said: “The team here at Amazon Publishing are delighted to welcome Lauren Rae’s story to the Little A list. This uplifting memoir is sure to appeal to a readers looking for a funny and memorable read.”
