Richard Osman donates 1000 copies of his books to libraries across the UK

Richard Osman will donate 1,000 copies of his books to libraries across the UK in partnership with the Reading Agency.

Librarians in the UK - including those from college, workplace and prison libraries - will be invited to order a free copy of both The Thursday Murder Club and The Man Who Died Twice (Viking) through The Reading Agency’s shop from 20th July onwards. The Thursday Murder Club (Viking) was the UK’s most loaned book in 2020/21.

The Thursday Murder Club series follows four unlikely friends – Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron – who meet once a week to investigate unsolved murders in a peaceful retirement village. The next book in the series, The Bullet That Missed is publishing in hardback on 15th September.

Osman said: “Books are for everyone, reading is for everyone and libraries are for everyone. I am very proud to support the library service, and I know the members of the Thursday Murder Club would be too.”

Karen Napier MBE, c.e.o. of the Reading Agency, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Penguin Random House to be able to gift free copies of Richard Osman’s books to libraries. The Reading Agency is a national charity helping people to tackle life’s big challenges through the proven power of reading and we hope lots of people will discover some joy from reading these donated books.”
