Sphere to Publish Next Book in Rob Temple’s Very British Problems Series

Sphere has snapped up Britain According to Very British Problems by Rob Temple, the seventh title in the Very British Problems series.

Editor Serena Brett acquired world all-language rights in a deal with Juliet Mushens of Mushens Entertainment. The book will be published in hardback and e-book on 10th October 2024.

The synopsis states: "Britain According to Very British Problems will take the reader on a journey around the British Isles, encountering strange local traditions, famous (or infamous) landmarks and bizarre place names, all while enjoying this country’s finest rail replacement bus services. Starting in Land’s End and heading all the way up to John O’Groats (via the Irish Sea), this tour of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland covers everything from the national sports of apologising, queueing and bog snorkelling to our national cuisine of chips, bread rolls and… chips in bread rolls."

Temple said: “I’ve had a lifelong obsession with Britishness and now I’ve channelled that passion into one definitive guidebook. Writing it was a delight, reminding me of how charmingly eccentric this country is. I hope British readers find it relatable and comforting, and that readers from other countries find it welcoming and perhaps even useful.”

Brett added: “It’s been a joy putting this book together with Rob; he is a true expert on all things weird, wonderful and British.”
