THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB is a Platinum Bestseller with over 1 million copies sold

Richard Osman’s record-breaking debut The Thursday Murder Club is officially a Platinum Bestseller with over 1 million copies sold in the UK. It is the only book to have reached upwards of 1 million copies sold in the same year as its release, and also came second in the Top Ten Bestselling Books of 2020 category. The Thursday Murder Club also topped the list for most sales at independent bookshops in 2020.

The Bestseller Awards are an annual event honouring books which have sold over 250,000, 500,000, or 1 million copies, based on Nielsen BookScan data. Previous winners of the Platinum award include Gail Honeyman (Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine), Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo series), and Adam Kay (This is Going to Hurt).

Released last September, Richard Osman’s crime fiction novel was the #1 Bestselling Fiction Book of 2020 after only 3 months of sales, and was the first fiction debut to take the Christmas #1 spot.

A massive congratulations to Richard and all of his team at Viking Books.
